Artist Statement:

Drawing and painting are my way to show you, the viewer, what I see.  I aim for realism so that you can recognize the subject matter.  But I try to show you more, the detail of a leaf or flower petal or the subtlety of color.  As a native North Carolinian, I'm inspired by the state's variety of landscapes, plants and wildlife.

I work in artists' colored pencils, acrylics, watercolor or a mixture of these medias.  Recently, I have started to explore digital media.

I have been drawing and painting since grammar school and have had some formal training in technical drawing and graphics.  In the past few years, I have started to exhibit and sell my works.

I am a member of the Colored Pencil Society of America.
